Highwaymen 382 - Morganite 371
Last nights results puts the highwaymen in pole position to reach the Knockout stages of the British Skittles National championship. This was a good win against a team we have struggled to beat on their own alley for the last 2 seasons. This puts the Highwaymen top of group 27 and 1 win away from confirming qualification in the next round.

Highwaymen make it 2 wins from 2 games in the group stages of this competition.
This puts them in s strong position to qualify for the semi finals

Since winning the Blackthorn Plate competition in September 2007 the Highwaymen have now embarked on their 2008 quest to return to Sand Bay Somerset, and become the first Worcester Skittles team to win this illustrious competition.

Over 420 Teams from nationwide have entered this competition and with 48 team places available for the final weekend in September 2008, competition is really hotting up.

The Highwaymen were placed in a group along with another Worcester team” Morganite”. The other two teams in the group “Hornets” and the “Kingfishers” are from Coventry and Evesham.

Highwaymen continued their quest in the Blackthorn championships last night at the Anchor Diglis with another victory, this time over the “Kingfishers” from Evesham. The result of 359 to 319 was a very convincing one with two players sharing the top score of 49 (James Rushton and Dean Banfield).

This result now puts Highwaymen top of their group with two matches to play, however both remaining matches are away from home against local Worcester Team “Morganite” and then finally on July 1^st “Kingfishers” from Evesham.

We have always have close games against Morganite and it appeared that this was going to be the same again after the Morganite took a narrow 1 pin lead after 2 legs. But 2 spares in the 3rd leg from the Highwaymen changed the game and proved to be the difference on the night.

Highwaymen V Dickheads

Highwaymen produced a good performance to beat the Dickheads convincingly. The Dickheads only took one leg with the Highwaymen always taking a spare off when needed.

British Skittle championship  (23/5/08)

23-May Highwaymen 308 V 371 Hornets 
The Highwaymen travelled to Coventry on Friday night and returned empty handed after being trounced by 63 pins. The short run up for the Highwaymen proved to be difficult to for the Highwaymen players to adjust to and in the end were never in the game.

Here house KO  (20/5/08)
21-May Highwaymen 385 V 335 Surfers 
 Highwaymen produced a dominant display to beat the Surfer and reach the group stages of the Here house KO. The Highwaymen won this KO 2 years ago and on this form will take some stopping.The Highwaymen lead from start to finsih and scored more than the surfers on every leg except for 1.
The Highwaymen will now meet the Arbos and Newsmen from the District league in their group section.

British Skittle championship  (20/5/08)

20-May Highwaymen 376 V 354 Hornets 
THis proved to be a good match against the team from Coventry. In the end the cinsistency of the Highwaymen on their own Alley proved too much for the Hornets who no doubt will prove to be awkward customers in this league.

British Skittle championship  (19/5/08)

Highwaymen will be playing their first game in the British Skittle championship on the 23/5/08. The match will take place at the Anchor Inn Diglis. Be their for 8.30 start.

Champion of Champions 1/2 (14/5/08)
Highwaymen V Scorpions (Cavalier)
Scorpions this time reversed the fortunes of the King pin match by beating he Highwaymen in the semi-finals of the Champions of Champions. The Scorpions were left 93 to win which is always possible to do on the Cavalier. They achieved this total in style by posting a tremendous 114 last leg to reach the Champ of Champ final.

Highwaymen V Harrys Heroes (Here House)
Despite not bowling as well as we can the Highwaymen managed to beat a spirited Harry's Heroes team on the Here House. The Highwaymen posted a team score of 439 which on another night could well have been beaten.
