Highwaymen picking up British Skittles Plate Trophy

Cavaliers Cut down to size (31/10/07)
Rushwick have recently proved to be a difficult team to beat for the Highwaymen but tonight a large team total of 478 by the highwaymen was always going to be difficult for any team to chase.
This proved to be the case with several players hitting good form. Kenny Gormley posted a superb 51 with Mitch Fowles 47 , Dave Rushton 45 , Gary Hanson 45 and Rich Franklin 41 supporting him well.
Highwaymen top the table after their best start to a season for over 12 years.

Highwaymen first round win in Doris Styles (24/10/07)
Playing on the Blackpole alley with a small kit against a good Windshields team was not going to be easy but 2
good early legs of 84 and 88 ensured a 31 pin lead after 2 legs . the Highwaymen never looked like throwing that away . Gary Rudge top scored with a superb 40 without a spare

Highwaymen make successful start in King Pin Trophy defence (19/10/07)
The Highwaymen had a dodgy start against a good Runaways team from Monday div 1. The Highwaymen's 61 against the Runaways 74 certainly gave the Runaways some heart. But a 41 second leg from the Runaways let the Highwaymen back into the match. We then posted legs of 66 and 78 and this effectively ensured the Highwaymen progressed into the 2nd round.

Martin Jones . Dean Banfield and Gary Hanson all bowled well to give the Highwaymen a good win against a team who on their night can beat anybody.

Highwaymen take over at top (17/10/07)
As always the New Castings gave the Highwaymen a close game. The game was waiting for either team to post the killer leg but despite both teams bowling well it was not to be and the consistency of the Highwaymen was just enough to win the game by 11 pins. The new Castings showed their battling qualities by getting big spares at the right time to keep them in the game. The match winner for the Highwaymen was ex New Castings player Phil Read with a very good 46. To say the least Phil enjoyed posting this score against his old team mates. The New Castings were left 91 to win but they were never able to get the spare that would have given them the chance to win the game . 16 points against a team who will be battling at the top was a good return and moved the Highwaymen 14 points clear at the top.

Highwaymen win on up and down night  (10/10/07)
Highwaymen made sure of the win with a 114 4th leg which included 3
spares.. The Highlight being a 17 spare from Gary Hanson. But a 75 third leg gave the Casual 2 leg bonus points which should have been secured. The Highwaymen needed a 80 last leg to secure a 16 - 4 win. This we did with ease with 2 further spares being taken off. A 16 spare by Steve Dayus was followed by another from Mitch Fowles. the Highwaymen posted an 101 final leg which gave us a team total of 475. Another successful night ensuring the Highwaymen stay in the upper reaches of the league table.

Highwaymen take it out on New Raiders  (03/10/07)
After last weeks flattering performance in the last two legs the Highwaymen wanted to make sure they did not make the same mistake against a Raiders team struggling for form. As it was the Highwaymen had no need to worry with the team playing as well as it could. Jaime Rushton with a stunning 15 spare was the pick of the bowlers . But he was ably supported by several players. Gary Hanson , Gary Rudge and Mitch Fowles all bowled well in a solid team effort. The Highwaymen finished with 11,15,9 to leave the Raiders 110 to win and 97 to win the last leg bonus points. Despite their best efforts the Highwaymen took 20 points and kept the pressure on the Bulls who also won.

Highwaymen progress into next round of Doris Styles . (28/11/07)
Tonight the Highwaymen were up against a Groundhogs team who were unfortunatley playing with only 11players. Try as they might they were never in the hunt and 2 legs of over 100 ensured it was to be an easy night for the Highwaymen.

Highwaymen win classic match with last ball . (24/11/07)
This was a titanic struggle beaten 2 teams giving no quarter. It looked as it the highwaymen had dome enough after 4 legs to win the game but the Scorpions never gave up and a final leg of 114 which included 2 big spares. This left the Highwaymen the tough task of getting 96 to win. The Highwaymen bowled well on the final leg but it looked as i9f the luck had deserted them with Mitch Fowles requiring 16 spare to win.

Mitch's first ball too 6 pins leaving  the triangle 3. Mitch duly took it off with ease. To get a 16 spare having already got a 15 spare was asking a lot but a stunning ball by
Mitch wiped out 6 of the pins instantly. But a pin rolling across the alley had enough on it to knock over the back pin and gie the Highwaymen the win by 1 pin. Also ensured a 14 - 6 points haul . The Highwaymen's bonus points haul through the season being one of the main reasons why we have a big lead at the top.
Another player who had an outstanding night was Rich Franklin whose 51 was superb. Kev Albone also bowled very well for his 44.

An excellent win for the Highwaymen who can look forward to next weeks cup match with confidence.

Highwaymen beat 2nd place Rams to open up clear water. (14/11/07)
The Rams have proved to be a tought team to beat this season but yet again the highwaymen posted another high home score and in the end ensure the Rams given no chance to get into the game.

Good scores from Kev Albone , Mitch Fowles ,, Jaome Rushton Keith Collins Gary Hanson and Rich Franklin (who deserved more). Gave the Highwaymen an1 8 point -2 win. It certainly want be as easy wghen we go to theRailway to play them on the tough alley.

Bogie Team Tower laid to rest (07/11/07)
Tonight the Highwaymen after a slow start managed to beat a more than capable Tower Team to maintain thioer lead at the top  of the League table.
The Tower but in a dissaponiting first leg. the Highwaymen beat it but not by much then posted a no more than average leg to give the Tower a chance. Tower did not take full advantage and the Highwaymen from that point onwards took command. Kenny Gormley took his first spare for the Highwaymen and set the team alight with several spares being taken off.

A good team perforamce ensured an 18 point haul

Tables turned on Highwaymen  . (12/12/07)
It was not to be the Highwaymens night as they were in the end convincingly beaten by an Morganite team who are having an up and down season. The Morganite started with a poor leg but the Highwaymen for once did not respond well and the week of seemed to affect the first 2 legs. Despite bowling better as the game went on so did Morganite and they did not give the Highwaymen a glimmer of a chance to get back into the game.

Freshmen make it hard hard night for the Highwaymen. (09/01/08)
The Freshmen took an early 2 pin leqad after the first leg but the Highwaymen raised their game and hit back with 2 legs of 90 plus to gain the initiative . Mike Price took the first spare of the match and this seemed to settle any nerves the Highwaymen may off had. The Highwaymen then bowled with confidence to eventually come away with a 16 points to 4 win. Other good performance came from Rich Franklin & Kevin Albone. The top six bowlers proved to be a class above the bottom six on the night and with Keith Collins letting them know that the cream always rises to the top !!!!!
